For this client, it was more than a comfort issue. They live with an illness that makes heat far harder to tolerate. A hot conservatory wasn't just unpleasant. It was a room they couldn't use when they needed it most. The system was fitted for health and comfort reasons.
Like most conservatories, this one has a low dwarf wall with windows above it, so there's no solid wall high enough for a standard wall-mounted unit.
A floor console solves that. It stands on the floor against the dwarf wall and sits below the window sill, so none of the glass is blocked and the blinds still work as normal. We chose Fujitsu's slim design so the unit fits the space neatly without taking over the room.
We installed a Fujitsu 5 kW floor console, sized for the conservatory. It's a heat pump, so as well as cooling on hot days it heats the room in colder months, making the conservatory usable all year round.
The outdoor unit is fitted directly behind the indoor unit on the other side of the wall, which keeps the connection between the two as short and neat as possible, with very little pipework on show.
That short distance brought one technical detail to deal with. Fujitsu specifies a minimum pipe run of 3 metres between the indoor and outdoor units. A run shorter than the manufacturer's minimum can affect how the system performs and how long it lasts. So rather than cut the pipe short, we formed a discreet coil of pipework hidden behind the outdoor unit. That keeps to Fujitsu's stated 3-metre minimum, protecting the life and performance of the system, while nothing is visible from the garden.
The system was installed by Cheshire Climate Solutions Ltd, a Refcom F-Gas certified company (certificate REF1023295). It carries our 2-year labour warranty alongside Fujitsu's manufacturer parts warranty.
