During installation · three circuits connectedThe homeowners wanted air conditioning in three rooms: the open-plan kitchen diner, the master bedroom and their children's bedroom.
Three separate systems would have meant three outdoor units on the outside of the house. A multi-split system runs all three indoor units from one outdoor unit instead, which keeps the outside of the house tidy and puts all the plant in one place.
At the heart of it is a Samsung Free Joint Multi 8 kW outdoor unit (AJ080TXJ4KG), wall-mounted on brackets. Three Samsung WindFree™ Comfort indoor units are connected to it, each sized to its room:
Each room has its own indoor unit and controls, so each can be set to its own temperature. WindFree™ units can also cool in a gentle, draught-free mode, spreading air through thousands of micro air holes rather than blowing it directly into the room. Samsung describes the WindFree™ range as well suited to bedrooms.
All three are heat pumps, so the same system warms those rooms in winter.
The job took two days. It involved fitting three indoor units, running three separate refrigerant circuits back to the one outdoor unit, and making all the connections at the outdoor unit's service valves.
The photo was taken during installation, with all three insulated pipe pairs connected and a digital refrigerant manifold attached at the outdoor unit.
The system was installed by Cheshire Climate Solutions Ltd, a Refcom F-Gas certified company (certificate REF1023295). It carries our 2-year labour warranty on top of Samsung's manufacturer parts warranty.
If you want two or more rooms doing, it's worth asking about multi-split first. One outdoor unit can serve several rooms, which takes up far less space outside and keeps all the plant in one place.
